Throwback Thursday: 27 Things I Know At 27

Here's my perspective on things and the oddities that life has taught me, because let’s face it, one way or another, we all learn something. And as I enter my late 20’s (three years shy of that one birthday, oh gosh!) I started to see the beauty of getting older... that it is a gift which comes with wisdom, better viewpoint and balance. Allow me to break it down to you like I know how to:

  1. All things are possible as Matthew 19:26 puts it and that my fear of the unknown and things beyond my comfort zone are the only two things that limit me.
  2. The words ‘what if’ will never have a place on my vocabulary from this day on. It leaves me feeling unsettled every single time. No more what ifs, I say!
  3. Though I moved on and things turn well yet again, losing my grandma, whom I love the most, won’t change the fact that life, for me, will never be the same anymore.
  4. I'm a proud Introvert and there is nothing wrong with being one.
  5. Some friends drift apart and fade away with time, others stay put in spite of the differences, busy lives and distance and they are the real gems one can have
  6. Angeles City, the place I call my hometown (though no single drop of Kapampangan blood runs through my veins) is more than what this website says what it is. If anything, my city boasts a rich Kapampangan culture like no other, with Filipino suburban dwellings that break the monotony of the city rush and finally us, cheery, clued-in residents who are as interesting as we possibly could be, enough said.
  7. Patience is truly a virtue and waiting has never been this AWESOME! I mean, truly, deeply awesome.
  8. Surprises of any kind exasperate me since they make me feel and look daft. This is to say don't ever surprise me. Please and thank you.
  9. My inclination to do a totally out of character and might I add, drastic choice, led me to rock a pixie hair for 8 amazing months now. Possibly one of the best things I’ve done so far. Winning me over to the verity that a woman’s beauty does not rest solely on her hair.
  10. There’s no point in keeping your age secret especially if you don’t look it. Openly revealing your age is a way of being unapologetic to the world. Why not share it. So if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a proud and happy 27!
  11. At some point, I dread the thought of living somewhere else. Now, I’m kind of open to the idea of exploring life beyond the “REALM”. No kidding.
  12. The Tudors entirely altered my views on kings and queens and princes and princesses and the fairy tales that I’ve read about as a kid... because politics no matter what era and country, is a dirty, dirty game. Letting loose the human lust for power is death-defying.
  13. The streak of feminist in me, approximately by 99%, unfetters whenever women’s potentials and accomplishments are undervalued and reduced by virtue of the fact that we are women… Yup, something like that!
  14. Writers write and so I try.
  15. Conversation with someone allows me to catch a sneak peak of who the person I talk to is. If the conversation stimulates me as coffee does, then I know I’m in for a good one… just so hard to sleep after.
  16. A guy’s facial hair (like that of James Franco’s scruffy beard not the creepy ones) seems to holler at me and say “I’m not a kid anymore and I’m ready to take the world!” Sooo effin' cool!
  17. There's a certain comfort in solitude that I enjoy... a necessity for my rather convoluted life I lead. Drama queen alert! 😆
  18. Audiobooks, no offense to e-books and hard copy books, are the bomb!
  19. Short dresses and black tights add an edgy touch to my pixie hair and with a proper encouragement from here and there, I became a fan.
  20. I’m sure I’m not supposed to get a pet, not that I dislike animals. It just happens that I lack loving temperament and maternal instinct to care for one. Please don't judge me. Also, I had a bad bout of scabies in my early 20's that lasted for quite sometime. Turns out, I'm allergic to any fur animals' saliva. True story, bruh!
  21. It’s quite atrocious to completely disregard the importance of message inbox on Facebook because some things are meant to be private. Reminding a friend of your facial appointment together on Walls and Timelines are a little silly because that’s what message inbox are for, right? RIGHT?!
  22. Heartache is never deadly. And so is failure.
  23. Teaching preschool is something I do out of love. I’ve proven this by being on the field for 3 wonderful years already. Now entering my 4th come June, excitement still enfolds me like it did on my first year.
  24. There’s nothing wrong with being weird sometimes as told by a dear friend (:
  25. I believe in Jesus, His love and what He did on the cross. No circumstance, emotions and certain people could ever get in to the way to make me think otherwise. Why is that supposed to be a deal breaker, I don't know.
  26. I’m big on church and ministries and I see myself doing all these till I turn 90.
  27. I’ll never get use to being the center of attention even for 24 solid hours every time I celebrate my name day but I must admit, that is a celebration I just can’t get behind, year after year.
